Practical Strategies for Grounding Clients
- Lotus Breath – squeeze hands into a ball whilst breathing in, release the breath and spread the hands and fingers out wide like a lotus flower opening
- Centering the physical body by placing the thumb in the navel (or around the rim of the navel) and flattening the palm across the sacral chakra
- Taking 3 deep breaths in and out (or more breaths if needed)
- Using the focusing technique (based on the technique developed by Dr Eugene Gendlin and documented in Ann Wiesner Cornell’s book “The Power of Focusing”)
- Placing the feet in a warm water foot bath and focusing on the feet
- Client holding their feet with your hands to bring the attention to the feet
- Practitioner holding their clients’ feet for grounding
- Focusing on the base of the spine whilst following the natural rhythmic movement of the lower body with the breath
