‘A column about the Sun and the Moon.’

Gemini Lunar Month – Beginning of a new story

You will most likely receive this column during Balsamic Moon – the last phase of the current lunar cycle. I have always found this phase somehow soothing and comforting. As the Moon wanes into darkness, there is an invitation for us to close our eyes and settle into a deep meditation. This is a time to allow the learnings and experiences of the past cycle to integrate into a seed of wisdom, that we get to plant again into fertile soil during the New Moon in a few days time.

Dates to note:

New Moon in Gemini 30 May (9.30pm AEST)

First Quarter Moon in Virgo 8 June

Full Moon in Sagittarius 14 June (9.51pm AEST)

Sun moves into Cancer 21 June

Last Quarter Moon in Aries 21 June

Gemini New Moon

On the 30th of May, we begin a new lunar month as the Sun and Moon join together in the quick witted and cheeky sign of Gemini. Gemini energy is interesting in the sense that it can take us between two ends of a spectrum in no time. In other words, we may find ourselves deeply engaged in devotional spiritual practice one moment, and the next drooling over a new gorgeous purse!

Gemini is also the storyteller of the heavens, and so this lunation is a magickal time to read/watch/listen to our favorite stories and soak in the wisdom that is shared by storytelling. This could also be a curious time to re-create some of the stories we tell ourselves, especially with Mercury still in retrograde…

New moon phase is of course about a new energy, and an opportunity to align our vibe with what we desire to see come alive in our lives. Nurture what you want to cultivate by consciously choosing the activities you engage in and perhaps do something that evokes the desired feelings in you – Grandmother Moon is listening and communicates with us through our hearts.

A practice suggestion for the Gemini Lunation:

  • Have fun by writing a short story about You. Allow your heart to guide the process and write a story where all your heart’s desires come true!

Following the New Moon, the Moon begins to wax and slowly gain more light as it journeys towards fullness. I like to visualize my wishes also gaining more light and clarity alongside the Moon. This is a good time to stay focused on your goals and actively engage in bringing your wishes to life. The First Quarter Moon in Virgo on the 8 June is a potent time to fine tune your plans and take practical steps forward.

Sagittarius Full Moon

This Full Moon illuminates the adventurous and freedom loving sign of Sagittarius. With the buoyant energy of this time, we are invited to acknowledge and celebrate how far we’ve come. Take a moment to look back at the risks and chances you have taken over the months or years, and acknowledge the courage in you, no matter what the outcome.

With the Sun on the opposite side of the axis, in the communicative Gemini with Mercury (direct now) only a few degrees away, it could be a lovely practice to write down a few new affirmations to champion yourself. Words are an essential part of how we construct our reality as humans, and thus the words we keep telling ourselves have a tremendous power over our experienced reality.

Full Moon is also a time of release. In the light of the Full Moon, we see more clearly what must be released and let go of, as we align ourselves with our hearts desires. With Neptune in the mix, there is a sense of releasing control, a sense of  surrender, and I find this Full Moon brings up the question: Do I have the courage to surrender?

Here’s a few ideas on how to commune with this gorgeous Full Moon

  • Make an offering to the Moon by placing a flower in water and expressing your gratitude for the deep feminine wisdom she so generously shares with the world
  • Make an offering to yourself by gifting yourself flowers (or something else you feel suitable) and expressing your acknowledgement and gratitude for your courage and spirit
  • Keep sleep journal – Neptune talks to us in our dreams
  • Journal or contemplate – here’s a few prompts: Where am I clinging to control? How does the idea of releasing control make me feel? How does courage feel in my body? Could I lean into courage and surrender?

Slowly after the Full Moon, the energy shifts again as the Waning Moon journeys us through the other side of this lunar cycle. On 21 June, we have the Last Quarter Moon in Aries, possibly dismantling some of our perceived structures, so that they can be reviewed and rebuilt with more holistic understanding during the next cycle.

Until next time,

The International Energetic Healing Association is a co-creation. At its core, we are a group of individuals who are passionate about energetic healing and are committed to raising the profile of energetic healing globally.

Our members are individuals who honour the vibrant world of energy and recognize the mind-body-spirit as an intelligent, dynamic system.

So, how do we run an energetic organisation?

That is an ever-evolving question for us at the IEHA and we are constantly charged with ‘listening’ to what the energy of the IEHA would like us to do next.

How do we ‘listen’ to what the association needs?

We have an Energy team which is currently made up of eleven members. We meet about once every three weeks with the intention of assisting the IEHA in any way we can. We have found that projects seem to flow ‘through’ members.

What I mean by this, is that a member will suddenly feel inspired to start a project, like Healers Connect, or a book or a conference! The inspired person brings it to the group and we all ‘tune in’. We are curious as a group about how it ‘feels’. We notice if there is excitement, trepidation, a joint feeling of ‘yes’, or not. We hold it without attachment, but with curiosity.

If it feels like a ‘yes’, we get curious about the people who that project is ‘talking’ to. Those are likely to be the people feeling excited by the project. Some will feel strongly drawn to be involved and others will not. We honour that. We allow the energy to do the talking and we try to listen.

This is a much more ‘yin’ way of working than is common in most organisations at present. It is authentic, because we are not doing a project because we will be paid for it, we are doing a project because there is genuine enthusiasm and resonance.

How we work in the energy team aligns with our core values of:

Authenticity – we listen to the energy and authentically express how it lands for each of us

Innovation – we use new ways to run the organisation aligned with energetics.

Collaboration – we bring an initiative to the group, and we collaborate. Every project the IEHA has done has been a collaboration between members.

Contribution – All members of the energy team are there in the spirit of service.

Wisdom – Tuning into the group intelligence and wisdom to move forward in the best way for the group and the association.

The energy team has a regular rotation of membership so that the energy can shift when it needs to.

I hope this has given you some insight into the inner workings of the IEHA. Wherever you are, if you feel called to join us, click on this link to explore different kinds of membership.

Much love from the whole energy team at the IEHA.

Hello everyone!

Well, we have reached the end of the year. This is when all the festivities and exchanging of gifts happen. But this is also a great time to feel uplifted and joyful. This is the time to have hope as we get another chance to start again.

12 months, 12 recipes. This is my last one for the year and it is probably a dessert that does not top the healthy list but everything is in moderation and it is nice to indulge once in a while. What better time than Christmas!

This is a quick dessert if you are running out of time. I hope you enjoy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 square sheets of puff pastry.
  • Nutella or Cadbury dark or milk chocolate.

METHOD

  1. Cut the two sheets in a Christmas tree shape (use a ruler). It does not have to be perfect.
  2. One is the base, and one is the top. Place the base on a large chopping board and spread the melted chocolate or Nutella on the base. Then place the other pastry on top.
  3. If you have a cookie cutter in the shape of a star, cut two stars in the 3rd pastry and spread chocolate on the base of the star then put the second star on top and set aside.
  4. Once your Christmas tree pastry has got both bases covered, place your star on top of the tree. Then use a small knife and gently slice the sides of the tree in a horizontal way making sure the middle of the tree is not sliced.
  5. Then start twisting the branches on the side of the pastry upwards but do it gently. Two twist is plenty.
  6. Brush your Christmas tree with a little bit of milk then place almond flakes on the pastry.
  7. Baked in oven until the pastry has that golden brown colour. Do not bake it for a long time. Keep checking and as soon as you see that light brown crispy colour take the pastry out.
  8. Place your pastry in a rectangular dish and sprinkle red and green MNMS all around the plate to give it that Christmas colour look. You can sprinkle icing sugar on it if you wish. I usually sprinkle coconut sugar for a healthier version.
  9. Eat with Vanilla ice cream.

If you are using Cadbury see the method below to melt.

Cadbury milk chocolate melted

  1. Pour water in a frying pan and use a dish that can sustain heat and place it in the frying pan.
  2. Break the chocolate bars and place them in the dish and let them melt on the stove on a low flame. It should take only 5-10 seconds for them to melt.
  3. Spread quickly on prepared pastry.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Today I have a delicious Brownie recipe that is also very healthy, moist and tasty.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup almond butter or cashew butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • A handful of dark chocolate chip for the batter
  • Another handful to decorate.
  • Crushed walnuts

METHOD:

  • Line a square pan with baking paper and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Crush the bananas in a large mixing bowl.  Use a fork and press the bananas until there are no lumps.
  • Add the egg, the almond butter and the cocoa powder and mix well with a wooden spoon. Add the dark chocolate chip but don’t mix too hard. You want them to stay as a whole in the batter.
  • Pour batter into your pan and decorate with the chocolate chip cookie on top with crushed walnuts.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes until the top looks set but check with a skewer first to see if it is dry inside before removing from oven.
  • Eat with some vanilla ice cream if you wish.
  • (The bananas can be replaced by a cup of gluten-free flour but add 2 eggs to the batter).

This month’s recipe is very simple and quick to prepare. If you cannot tolerate flour and you love pancakes, there is a nice alternative to traditional pancakes and this recipe is full of good nutrients.

This is my flourless pancake with a cheeky twist. You can make 4 – 5 small pancakes from this recipe.

INGREDIENTS

  • One banana – ripe
  • One egg
  • A teaspoon of chia seeds
  • A teaspoon of desiccated coconut
  • Butter for the pan
  • A large pan

METHOD

  1. Mash your banana with a fork.
  2. Mix an egg with the mashed banana and mix with the fork again until combined.
  3. put a teaspoon of chia seeds and a teaspoon of desiccated coconut in the batter then mix gently.
  4. Smear the pan with a little bit of butter and use a soup ladle to pour the batter in the pan. You should get 4 to 5 pancakes in the pan.
  5. Please keep an eye on your pan as the pancakes cook fairly quickly. Flip them with a spatula to cook the other side once you notice that the bottom is nice and not liquid anymore.
  6. Eat your pancakes with blueberries and blackberries, rice malt syrup, honey or some vanilla ice cream.
Almond-coconut cake

Hello and welcome to our monthly recipe. Today I have a nice, tasty recipe for you. It is my modified Almond and coconut cake. I substitute a few ingredients for healthy alternatives, and it still tastes divine.

Just like I did in last month’s recipe, I used coconut sugar in this one, so it will give it that dark brown colour instead of light brown colour. This cake is also gluten-free so even better for your gut health.

Almond-coconut cake

Ingredients

180g (1 ½ cups) almond meal

70g (2/3 cup) desiccated coconut

1 cup coconut sugar (reserve a little bit of coconut sugar to use as icing to dust your cake)

30g flaked almonds

¼ tsp salt

200g butter unsalted

4 Eggs

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 tsp bicarbonate soda (optional if you want your cake to rise) you can also use baking powder but the measurement changes to 2 tsp.

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180º Celsius (fan-forced) * See note below. Line your tin (20cm) with baking paper. If you use baking paper, you do not have to grease the tin. You can also use a 25cm tin.
  2. Place butter in a pan and melt over the stove (low heat).  Keep checking and stirring with a wooden spoon. Once butter is melted, allow to cool slightly.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla essence and beat until combined (I use an electric beater, but you can also use a stand mixer if you have one).
  4. Add the almond meal, desiccated coconut, salt and coconut sugar, bicarbonate soda and stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin.
  6. Sprinkle the flaked almonds over the top and bake for 50-40 minutes or less until the cake is cooked. Use a skewer or fork and pierce the middle of the cake.  If the skewer comes out dry, then the cake is ready. If the skewer is slightly wet, lower the heat to 150º.
  7. I set the oven to 180º to warm it, then lower it to 170º to cook the cake, when I can smell the almond, I lower it to 150º.

Once your cake is ready, take it out of the oven straightaway and allow it to cool in the pan at room temperature but when you take it out of the oven cover the tin with foil paper until it cools down. This keeps the moisture in the cake and stops it from getting dry.

Once cake is at room temperature sprinkle icing sugar and chia seeds (optional) on top and enjoy with some Acai berry ice cream or coconut Ice cream.
